Make Lemon Syrup
- In a small saucepan, combine fresh lemon juice, water, and granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
Prepare Mascarpone Cream
- Chill a mixing bowl and beaters, then whip heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- In another bowl, beat mascarpone cheese with vanilla extract and lemon zest until smooth.
- Fold whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
Assemble Tiramisu
- Dip ladyfinger cookies in the cooled lemon syrup for 1-2 seconds and arrange in a serving dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
Create the Second Layer
- Repeat dipping with another layer of ladyfingers and top with remaining mascarpone cream.
Chill
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours, preferably overnight.
Serve and Garnish
- Garnish with extra lemon zest or candied lemon slices and serve.
