Method
 

Make Lemon Syrup
  1. In a small saucepan, combine fresh lemon juice, water, and granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
Prepare Mascarpone Cream
  1. Chill a mixing bowl and beaters, then whip heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  2. In another bowl, beat mascarpone cheese with vanilla extract and lemon zest until smooth.
  3. Fold whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
Assemble Tiramisu
  1. Dip ladyfinger cookies in the cooled lemon syrup for 1-2 seconds and arrange in a serving dish.
  2. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
Create the Second Layer
  1. Repeat dipping with another layer of ladyfingers and top with remaining mascarpone cream.
Chill
  1. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours, preferably overnight.
Serve and Garnish
  1. Garnish with extra lemon zest or candied lemon slices and serve.
