Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, cocoa powder, and espresso powder.
  3. Cream unsalted butter, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, and brown sugar for 3-4 minutes. Add eggs one at a time and stir in vanilla.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs.
  6. For the pecan topping, combine corn syrup, brown sugar, butter, flour, and egg in a saucepan, stirring until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in chopped pecans. Let cool for a couple of minutes.
  8. Spread the pecan topping over the baked brownie base and return to the oven for 15-20 minutes.
  9. Cool completely on a wire rack, then chill for 30-60 minutes before slicing.
