Ingredients

For the Pasta
  • 1 pound Pasta (Penne or Rotini) The sturdy shape holds the creamy sauce beautifully.
For the Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Can be swapped with melted butter for richer flavor.
  • 1 small Onion Finely chopped for even cooking.
  • 6 cloves Garlic Minced; fresh is best.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes Adds a touch of heat.
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Feel free to replace with turkey, chicken, or plant-based alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning Can be replaced with equal parts dried basil, oregano, and thyme.
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth Substitute with chicken or vegetable broth for a lighter option.
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream Half-and-half works too for a lighter option.
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Grated; plant-based parmesan is a great dairy-free alternative.
For Garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley Chopped, for color.

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Colander
  • large skillet
  • Wooden spoon

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8–10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened and golden, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for an additional minute.
  4. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook for 5-7 minutes, until evenly browned.
  5. If there's excess fat, carefully drain it, leaving some for flavor.
  6. Stir in Italian seasoning, beef broth, and heavy cream. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Add the pasta and grated Parmesan cheese to the skillet, tossing until coated.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning; consider adding a tablespoon of butter for richness.
  9. Plate and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
