Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.
  2. Gradually stir in the finely chopped sweet onions and milk until a thick batter forms.
  3. Pour about ½ inch of oil into a heavy skillet and heat it over medium heat to around 350°F.
  4. Using heaping tablespoons of batter, drop them into the hot oil, leaving space between each fritter. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  5. Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
