- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add manicotti shells and cook for 6-7 minutes until al dente. Drain and cool.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, Italian sausage, and onion; sauté for 8 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute. Add marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Spread half of the meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish. Fill each manicotti shell with the ricotta mixture and place them seam-side down in the dish. Top with remaining sauce.
- Sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
