Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add manicotti shells and cook for 6-7 minutes until al dente. Drain and cool.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, Italian sausage, and onion; sauté for 8 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute. Add marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  6. Spread half of the meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish. Fill each manicotti shell with the ricotta mixture and place them seam-side down in the dish. Top with remaining sauce.
  7. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
